Photography has traditionally been understood as evidence of an encounter between the camera and its subject. In this exhibition, that interaction never took place. The screen becomes a portal — the only place where it becomes possible.
Created at a time when much of human experience takes place through screens — phones, computers and TVs — this series explores photography as a means of approaching what can no longer be reached.
Rather than revisiting images, the works draw out gestures, traces and emotional fragments from the continuous flow of moving images. Light is no longer reflected by the world, but emitted by the screen itself.
Through a visual language shaped by blur, movement and grain, and informed by the Japanese are-bure-boke aesthetic, the screen ceases to be merely a surface. It becomes a membrane through which noise and distortion become part of the final image.
The photograph is real. The encounter is not.
